Photoshop actions can definitely save time when applying the same effects to an entire folder. Using the batch function with actions is a fun thing to watch and can also cause experimentation with images that may not have happened other wise. The action I recorded was very practical; it was to simply change the image size to 72px dpi and 700px width.
But while that will save some time opening and closing files I though it would be cool to mess around with some old images I airbrushed into my sketch book years ago. Since airbrushing on paper causes shadows and high lights to be very smooth I applied a cross hatch filter along with the resize action. The 7 images that came out in the end look interesting and basically only took a few seconds to apply.
